Student Involvement

The mission of the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is to compliment the academic mission of Angelo State University by engaging students in opportunities to grow intellectually and developmentally through educational programs and services within a diverse campus community.

In addition to Student Programs & Activities, Student Organizations, Leadership Development, Greek Life , and Community Service activities, the CSI is also responsible for:

The Center for Student Involvement

The CSI serves as the hub of activity for student organizations, providing space for groups to work with CSI staff on a variety or projects and for informal meetings. The CSI also hosts the executive officers and chairpersons of the University Center Program Council, providing cubicle and work space for this dynamic student organization. Beginning in Spring 2011, the Student Government Association (SGA) will also have its headquarters in the CSI.

Student Organizations

Looking for something to do, a group to hang out with? The 106-plus student organizations at ASU represent a variety of interests and purposes, and are organized as boards and councils, academic and professional organizations, honor organizations, service organizations, Greek social organizations, religious organizations, sports clubs and special interest groups. Don't see a group that interests you? Get a group of like-minded students together and let us help you start your own organization!

Student Organization Leadership Fund (SOLF)

Started in Fall 2007, the Student Organization Leadership Fund provides ASU student groups with access to funding for projects that bring Angelo State to life, from organization shirts, to travel for leadership development at conferences, to sponsoring activities on campus. Student organization leaders can access more SOLF info and the necessary application on the Student Organization channel in the Campus Life tab of RamPort.

Risk Management Training

Texas law now requires each institution of higher education to make risk management training on specific topics available to student organization leaders and advisors, and to keep records of attendance at these training events. The goals of this training are to educate organization members about potential liabiity that their organization may face and to encourage the leaders of these groups to develop appropriate risk management procedures and policies that fit their groups' needs. Training dates and times may be found on the CSI home page.

Leadership Programs

The Leadership Certificate Program and the annual T.E.A.M. 101 (Together Everyone Achieves More) seminar (features nationally recognized training experts) are great ways to develop your leadership skills. Also, special training sessions can be created based on student interests and organizational needs by making an appointment with the CSI staff.

RamPort

The Center for Student Involvement coordinates the Student Organization channel of the Campus Life tab of RamPort as well as the Campus Events, Greek Life and UCPC channels. In addition to finding timely information there, students and student groups can submit information to the Director of Student Involvement for possible inclusion in these spaces. Training is also available on how to use the RamPort group function to manage your organization or group.

Homecoming

The annual Homecoming Week is coordinated by a volunteer student committee facilitated by a CSI staffer. The week-long list of activities typically includes nominee presentation, homecoming king and queen elections, brisket cook-off, washer tournament, trivia contest, pep rally, step contest, run-through sign contest, bonfire and parade.
