Students Admitted for Spring Semester
The ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship has a priority date of Nov. 15. Students admitted to ASU by that date will automatically be reviewed for a scholarship. Students admitted to ASU after Nov. 15 will be reviewed to the extent funds are available.
Upon being accepted for graduate school, your highest degree GPA will be evaluated automatically by the College of Graduate Studies and Research to determine your ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship eligibility. No additional application is necessary.
If you are selected for an ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship, you will be notified via email.
The ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship will disburse based on your total enrolled credit hours for the semester.
9 or more credit hours = 100%
6-8 credit hours = 75%
3-5 credit hours = 50%
Repeated coursework will not be counted toward your enrollment requirements for disbursement.
Many graduate programs are on an 8-week schedule. We encourage you to register for your first 8-week and second 8-week courses at the beginning of the semester. After the university’s census date (12th class day of a regular semester), disbursements cannot be adjusted to account for additional course work.
The maximum duration for an ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship is not to exceed three years (six long semesters) or a master’s degree, whichever comes first.
If you qualify for an ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship, you will be eligible to pay in-state tuition for the duration of your scholarship.
If you drop below nine (9) credit hours on or before the university’s census date (12th class day of a regular semester), you will have your scholarship disbursement prorated, which may create a balance due to the university.
If you withdraw, you may be required to reapply to the university. Students who have to reapply are no longer eligible for their ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship.
Renewal Requirements
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will review your progress at the end of each spring semester to determine if you remain eligible for your ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship.
Students who graduate with their master’s degree are no longer eligible. Students who graduate within the three years and return to complete more coursework are no longer eligible for the ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship.
You must meet all of the following standards, stay consecutively enrolled, and remain in good standing (academic and disciplinary) with the university.
Institutional (ASU) Grade Point Average (GPA)
3.5 institutional GPA at the end of each academic year

The following are considered credit hours attempted, but not successfully completed and/or earned toward satisfying your scholarship requirements:
Course withdrawals

Maximum Lifetime of Eligibility
An ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship is valid for three years (six long semesters).
Not to exceed the three years as stated above or a master’s degree, whichever comes first.
Students who do not meet the renewal requirements by the end of the spring semester may reinstate their ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship by taking classes during the successive summer terms at Angelo State. Students who do not meet the renewal requirements by the end of the academic year (fall/spring/summer) will lose eligibility for their ASU Distinguished Graduate Scholarship.
