Federal

Federal Pell Grant Program (FPELL)
This is a federally funded program designed to help students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree. FPELL provides eligible students with a foundation of financial aid to help defray the cost of post-secondary education. Students must complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility for the FPELL. The award amount is based on

FPELL will pro-rate and disburse based on hours of enrollment.
 
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
This is a federally funded, need-based program designed to assist students who demonstrate exceptional financial need and who, without the grant, would be unable to continue their education. Applicants must be working on their first bachelor’s degree and be enrolled at least half time. Students must complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility for the FSEOG. It is a campus-based federal program and funding is limited to amounts allocated by the Department of Education.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
An ACG provides up to $750 for the first year and up to $1,300 for the second year of undergraduate study. To be eligible, a student must be FPELL-eligible according to the information provided on the FAFSA, have successfully completed a rigorous secondary school program of study and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant
A SMART grant provides up to $4,000 for each of the third and fourth years of undergraduate study. To be eligible, a student must be FPELL-eligible according to the information provided on the FAFSA, major in physical, life or computer science, engineering, mathematics, technology, or a critical foreign language and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Teach Grant
This is a federally funded program available to students admitted into the teacher education program. Eligible students must meet and maintain a 3.25 GPA. In exchange for the grant, students must agree to serve as full-time teachers at certain schools and within specific high-need fields for at least four academic years within eight years of completing their course of study. If a grant recipient does not carry out this obligation, the TEACH grant funds received will be converted into an unsubsidized loan that must be repaid with interest.


State

Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG)
This is a state program funded through tuition payments and is available to undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA and enroll at least half time. Awards under this program are usually limited to eligible applicants who meet the established priority deadline.

Federal and State Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (LEAP and SLEAP) Grants
LEAP grants are generated from federal and state funds. They are available to both undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA and enroll at least half time. Awards under this program are usually limited to eligible applicants who meet the established priority deadline and do not have other available gift aid to pay for the cost of tuition and fees.

Toward Excellence, Access and Success (TEXAS) Grant
This is a state-funded, need-based program available to help students who have recently graduated high school and completed the advanced or recommended high school curriculum. Applicants must be residents of Texas, demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA and meet specific academic requirements. Initial awards under this program are usually limited to eligible applicants who meet the established priority deadline. Continued awards are contingent on the student’s calculated need, successful credit hour completion rate and a 2.5 GPA.


Institutional

Ram Grant
This is a state-mandated institutional program funded through tuition payments and is available to undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA and enroll at least half time. Awards under this program are usually limited to eligible applicants who meet the established priority deadline and do not have other available gift aid to pay for the cost of tuition and fees.
