Description: This preliminary project has far-reaching implications in establishing a comprehensive wellness program for Angelo State University. When developing a worksite wellness program, it is imperative to identify the health issues of the targeted population. The information gained from the HRA data will provide us with the necessary guidance to write a comprehensive wellness proposal that addresses the specific health needs of ASU employees. During the 2008 fall semester, all full-time ASU employees (725) will be asked to complete the on-line AMESmyfile health risk assessment. To obtain a representative sample with a high confidence level, our goal is to have 500 employees complete the HRA. Upon completing their HRA, employees will receive an individualized personal health record (PHR) and health risk assessment report. In addition, employees will have access to the following for one year:

  1. personal health coaching
  2. health education portal
  3. personal health record

Other benefits include:

  1. increasing wellness awareness among ASU employees
  2. encouraging wellness changes among ASU employees
  3. beginning the groundwork to create a campus-wide culture of wellness

Description: A questionnaire designed to measure baseline attitudes of ASU faculty, staff and students related to fitness and wellness. This survey will be administered in September 2008 prior to the implementation of the Fitness and Wellness Pilot Program and again in May 2009. Response differences between the pre-and post-data will be analyzed to determine if the pilot year program impacted attitudes related to fitness and wellness.
