Establishing a Scholarship
We want to thank you for your interest in establishing a scholarship fund at Angelo State University to improve educational opportunities for our students. We strive to make higher education as affordable and accessible as possible.
Nearly 60 percent of students at ASU receive some form of privately funded scholarship support. Often scholarships are an important resource to keep students enrolled. Scholarships can be created by financial support from individuals, service organizations, corporations and foundations. These scholarships help change lives, build futures and provide the gift of education.
Our donors have the opportunity to establish a scholarship fund in perpetuity through the Angelo State University Foundation. The initial gift forms the corpus of the endowment and is invested. Then 4.5 percent of the annual interest is used for the scholarship. Any income in excess of the payout is returned to the corpus. This allows the scholarship endowment to continue to grow each year from the investment earnings. Additional gifts can be made to the corpus of the endowment. The larger the endowment fund, the larger the scholarship amount that can be awarded.
An annual scholarship is another opportunity to provide financial support to our students. These awards can be made immediately.
Giving to an Existing Scholarship
If you are interested in providing funding for scholarship purposes but you are not ready to establish a named scholarship, you can provide support to a scholarship that is already established. Your contribution can be made to the general scholarship fund or to an existing named scholarship.
