Title V Strategy for Learning Support
Create a new, more openly accessible, staffed Academic Resource Center (ARC) that houses centralized/coordinated tutoring, supplemental instruction and learning support areas.
What is the Academic Resource Center (ARC)?
The ARC will house an open area for one-on-one tutoring—available by drop-in and appointment—along with the Math Lab and Writing Center.
The new location will reside next to the Office of Supplemental Instruction (SI) and Tutoring. The center will assist all students in contributing to ASU’s vision to create a culture of academic success. The ARC will have extra room for SI leaders and groups to facilitate the expansion of SI programming. Additional study skills workshops that include, but are not limited to, time management, killer course anxiety, note-taking, listening and test taking strategies will be available.
What is Online Tutoring?
Online tutoring will provide students with the physical presence of academic support in a virtual learning environment. Students can simply go to a computer lab or utilize their personal computers and have access to online tutors. This will allow students to be actively involved in course material outside of class.
Extended ASU Tutor Center Hours
The ASU Tutor Center has expanded its hours of operation to 3–10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday (closed on Fridays and Saturdays). The Tutor Center expanded hours are due to ASU’s compliance with the HSI Title V grant.
