    Description: Comprehensive scholarly, multidisciplinary database, featuring  more than 8,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 7,300 peer-reviewed journals. This database also offers indexing and abstracts for more than 12,500 journals and 13,200 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc.

    Information coverage spans a broad range of important areas of academic study such as anthropology, astronomy, biology, chemistry, civil engineering, engineering, ethnic & multicultural studies, geology, law, materials science, mathematics, music, pharmaceutical sciences, physics, psychology, religion & theology, veterinary science, women’s studies, zoology, and many other fields.

    Description: Provides quick access to data from the following surveys and censuses:

    • American Community Survey - a nationwide survey designed to provide communities a fresh look at how they are changing.
    • American Housing Survey - the most comprehensive housing survey in the United States, covering 29 Metropolitan areas and the Nation as a whole
    • Annual Survey of Manufactures - provides sample estimates of statistics for commercial manufacturing establishments with paid employees
    • County Business Patterns / ZIP Code Business Patterns - provide economic data by industry at various geographic levels (U.S., state, county, metro area and ZIP Code). Data are derived from the Census Bureau’s Business Register, the file of all known business establishments.
    • Nonemployer Statistics - provides U.S. and sub-national data by industry for businesses without paid employees. Data originate primarily from the administrative records of other Federal agencies.
    • Annual Surveys of Governments - relevant, comprehensive, uniform, and quality statistics on the characteristics and key economic activities of the nation’s nearly 90,000 state and local governments
    • Census of Governments - conducted every 5 years, provides periodic and comprehensive statistics about the organization, employment, and finances of all state and local governments
    • Decennial Census - collects data every 10 years about age, sex, race, housing units and more for the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas
    • Economic Census - profiles the U.S. economy every 5 years, from the national to the local level and by detailed industry and business classification
    • Survey of Business Owners - presents statistics every 5 years at the national to local area level by industry and by gender, ethnicity, race, and veteran status of the business owner
    • Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Tabulation - publishes estimates from the American Community Survey of the race, ethnicity, and sex composition of the workforce by occupation and geography.
    • Population Estimates Program - publishes estimated population totals for the previous year for cities and towns, metropolitan areas, counties, and states.

  • Book Review Digest Plus imageimageimage

    Description: Indexes and provides access to some 1,300,000 book review excerpts and over 100,000 full text book reviews from over 8,000 periodicals in the humanities, sciences, social sciences and library review media.

    Every book appears with all of its reviews together. A single book can have as little as one review citation and as much as a descriptive summary and many reviews with excerpts and full text, depending upon the coverage the book received in the reviewing literature.

    Coverage dates back to 1983. Titles reviewed include fiction and non-fiction, children’s books as well as books for adults and young adults.

  • Choice Reviews Online image

    Description: Internet version of the monthly print magazine Choice, it is directed at academic librarians and faculty as a premier resource for collection development and scholarly research. It covers more than 50 sub-disciplines spanning the humanities, science and technology, and the social and behavioral sciences.

    Each issue contains approximately 600 reviews of recent books and electronic resources (including websites), a bibliographic essay that explores the literature in a specific topic, and “Feature” articles on current issues in the library field.

    Description: Online version of the Europa World Year Book, provides detailed country surveys containing the latest analytical, statistical and directory data available for over 250 countries and territories.

  • FedStats image

    Description: Internet gateway to a full range of official statistical information published by more than 100 Federal agencies. Organized so the user can access by statistical subject or by agency, the gateway alleviates the need to know in advance which agency produces information on a given subject.

    Searchable through an A-Z subject index, keyword searching across agency web sites linked to Fedstats, link to major statistical publications in the Statistical Reference Shelf, statistical profiles by geography, as well as direct links to agency contacts, news releases, and other navigational and organizational aids.

    Description: This database indexes over 25,000 records, covering an array of topics. Full text for each record may be easily accessed by double clicking on the topic from the display.     Description: Covers 175 countries and addresses 22 categories of interest to travelers, including business culture, communications, demographics, money and banking, points of interest, security, society and culture, tips for businesswomen, transportation, and travel essentials.     Description: Provides access to a wide range of news, business, legal, medical, and reference information from nearly 5,000 sources, most of them available in full text. The service covers newspapers, magazines, wire services, federal and state court opinions, federal and state statutes, federal regulations, and SEC filings. News information is updated daily and wire services several times daily.

    Research areas cover top news, general news topics, and news transcripts; foreign language news sources; company, industry, and market news; legal news; company financial information; general medical and health topics and medical abstracts; accounting, auditing, and tax information; law reviews; federal case law; U.S. Code; and state legal research.

    Description: A statistical website that aims to facilitate comparison of publicly available data on all countries of the world. A wide range of demographic indicators are covered, including literacy rates, taxation levels, and murders per capita. These are also available in pie charts, scatterplots, and correlation graphs.

    Data is gathered from sources in the public domain, including national censuses, the United Nations Development Programme, the UNESCO Institute of Statistics, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the World Trade Organization, World Bank Development Indicators, the World Resources Institute, the World Health Organization, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (UNCTAD) reports, and the Central Intelligence Agency World Factbook

    Description: Application created for the general public to provide broad access to the O*NET database of occupational information. The O*NET database includes information on skills, abilities, knowledges, work activities, and interests associated with occupations. This information can be used to facilitate career exploration, vocational counseling, and a variety of human resources functions, such as developing job orders and position descriptions and aligning training with current workplace needs. Information is available for over 900 occupations. Each occupational title and code is based on the 2010 version of the Standard Occupational Classification system.

    O*NET OnLine offers a variety of search options and occupational data, while My Next Move is a streamlined application for students and job seekers. Both applications were developed for the U.S. Department of Labor by the National Center for O*NET Development.

  • Small Engine Repair Reference Centerimageimageimage

    Description: This database contains the full set of small engine repair manuals from Clymer. These manuals contain thousands of accurate and concise step-by-step maintenance and repair instructions for hundreds of small engine machines and their supporting components. Routine maintenance, such as tune-ups and brake service, as well as more extensive repairs involving engine transmission disassembly are covered.

    Engine types include: motorcycles, ATVs, personal water crafts, snowmobiles, lawn mowers, tractors, snow blowers, generators, and more. Detailed and user-friendly content is provided in high-quality PDF files. Many documents contain photos and detailed illustrations to visually support step-by-step procedures.

  • Test Reviews Online

    Description: Access test reviews online, exactly as they appear in the Mental Measurements Yearbook series. Find free information on over 3,500 commercially available tests, most of which have been critically reviewed by the Buros Center for Testing. Reviews may be purchased for $15 per test title.

  • Texas Digital Sanborn Maps, 1867-1970 imageimage

    Description: Provides digital access to large-scale maps of 426 cities in 213 counties in Texas.  The map scale is 1:600 or 50 feet to 1 inch. Overall, the maps were prepared from 1877 to 1951. Some larger cities have updated maps as recent as 1970.

    Created originally for the fire insurance industry for risk assessment purposes, Sanborn maps contain detailed information on such building features as size, shape, construction type (and sometimes date), use, and street address.  The maps also give street names, street and sidewalk widths, property boundaries, building use, and house and block numbers.

    Ulrich’s records provide data points such as ISSN, publisher, language, subject, abstracting & indexing coverage, full-text database coverage, tables of contents, and reviews written by librarians.

    Description: The collection provides full text coverage for nearly 340 trade and industry related periodicals, and indexing and abstracts for over 600 journals. Full text information dates as far back as 1985.

  • World Factbook imageimageimage

    Description: Provides information on the history, people, government, economy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues for 267 world entities.

    This resource provides national-level information on countries, territories, and dependencies, but not subnational administrative units within a country. Also included are entries on parts of the world whose status has not yet been resolved (e.g., West Bank, Spratly Islands). Specific regions within a country or areas in dispute among countries are not covered.
