    Description: This database includes bibliographic citations for materials ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, as well as European dissertations back from the 17th century, to those accepted as recently as last semester. PQDT is the official dissertations repository for the Library of Congress and the publishing partner of the National Library of Canada.

    PQDT allows students, faculty, and other researchers to search for high-quality, peer-reviewed and multidisciplinary research materials related to their scholarly interests.     Description: Searchable online collection of non-current issues (‘backfile’) of selected core scholarly (peer-reviewed) journals in a broad range of disciplines.

    The time lag between the most current issues of a journal title and the content available in JSTOR is called “moving wall.” It varies from publisher to publisher. The majority of journals in JSTOR have moving walls of between 3 and 5 years, but publishers may elect walls anywhere from zero to 10 years.

    Description: Released in 2004, this reource provides information on the biological activities of small molecules. It includes substance information, compound structures, and BioActivity data in three primary databases:

    • PubChem Substance - contains chemical structures, synonyms, registration IDs, description, related urls, database cross-reference links to PubMed, protein 3D structures, and biological screening results. If the contents of a chemical sample are known, the description includes links to PubChem Compound.
    • PubChem Compound - contains validated chemical depiction information provided to describe substances in PubChem Substance. Structures stored within PubChem Compounds are pre-clustered and cross-referenced by identity and similarity groups. Additionally, calculated properties and descriptors are available for searching and filtering of chemical structures.
    • PubChem BioAssay - contains bioactivity screens of chemical substances described in PubChem Substance. It provides searchable descriptions of each bioassay, including descriptions of the conditions and readouts specific to that screening procedure.

    Results are displayed in three category pages: substance, compound, and BioAssay pages. They provide rich cross links to each PubChem database, other NCBI databases, and depositor’s databases. PubChem also provides a fast chemical structure similarity search tool.

    Description: National Institutes of Health freely accessible digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature.  It includes over 2 million articles deposited by participating publishers, and final, peer-reviewed author manuscripts by researchers who receive funding from NIH and other agencies.

    PubMed Central exists for two reasons, both of which arise from NLM’s Congressional mandate: 1) to permanently preserve digital journal literature in the life sciences, and 2) to improve access to biomedical information for health professionals, researchers and the public.
