"Discover a small sample of the millions of maps produced by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in its mission to map the Nation and survey its resources. This booklet gives a brief overview of the types of maps sold and distributed by the USGS through its Earth Science Information Centers (ESIC) and also available from business partners located in most States. The USGS provides a wide variety of maps, from topographic maps showing the geographic relief and thematic maps displaying the geology and water resources of the United States, to special studies of the moon and planets."
Earth & Moon Viewers
Two different Earth viewer sites using Living Earth imagery: John Walker's Earth & Moon Viewer and Paul Carlisle's Earth Viewer. [Carlisle's site is written primarily for elementary school students.] Satellite images provided by The Living Earth® Inc./Earth Imaging; other images and data provided by various federal government departments, such as NOAA and the Marine Geology and Geophysics Division, National Geophysical Data Center, Dept. of Commerce.
Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature
Produced by the Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature, International Astronomical Union. Contains detailed information about all names of topographic and albedo features on planets and satellites (and some planetary ring and ring-gap systems) that the International Astronomical Union has named and approved from its founding in 1919 through its triennial meeting in 1997. Newly added maps include Lunar shaded relief and color-coded topography maps and Mars 1:5-million scale MOLA imagery.
Jet Propulsion Laboratory (California Institute of Technoloy)
"JPL undertakes the robotic exploration of the solar system for NASA." Find images, multimedia, and other types of data on the earth, the solar system, and stars and galaxies. Images from the Mars exploration missions and NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope can be found on this site. The "Images" section includes the "Planetary Photojournal" (see below). The "Education Gateway" includes special sections for educators, students, and kids.
NASA Planetary Photojournal
This service, developed as a collaboration between NASA's Planetary Data System Imaging Node, the Solar System Visualization Project,and JPL's Media Relations Office, is designed to provide easy access to the publicly released images from various Solar System exploration programs. New images are added regularly. (Mirror site in Germany)
NASA's Directory page to the Mars websites
Includes Mars Exploration Rover Website and Mars Exploration Program Website (Mars Pathfinder, Mars Global Surveyor, Mars Odyssey, Mars Express, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter) and other Mars related websites. Mars Exploration Program site, with its digital images and other features on Mars, includes images from the various Mars missions. The site includes the special sections "Mars for Kids," "Mars for Students," "Mars for Educators," and "Mars for Press." The Mars Atlas includes a clickable map with links to more information and images from the Red Planet. The Atlas page also includes a link to the "New Mars Digital Map."

"Data Services" produced by the U.S. Naval Observatory, Astronomical Applications Dept. The site also includes information on phases of the moon, eclipses and transits, sun and moon positions, solar system bodies and bright stars, dates (e.g., "date for Easter" and "Julian date conversion"), and celestial navigation.
Visible Earth (a searchable directory of images, visualizations, and animations of the Earth) (NASA)
Includes over 6,000 images (as of March 2004) covering such topics as agriculture, atmosphere, biosphere, cryosphere, human dimensions, land surface, locations, oceans, and solid earth.
