The Cost of Financial Interventions, Past and Present (Congressional Research Service) (CRS Report to Congress, Sept. 23, 2008) -- Attempts to answer questions about the recent financial interventions by the government in the business of private corporations. Sources of funding and the costs to the taxpayer are discussed. The AIG, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, and Bear Stearns cases are used as examples.

Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac in Conservatorship (Congressional Research Service) (CRS Report to Congress, September 15, 2008) -- This document describes the role of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, why the government recently intervened to place these two government sponsored enterprises into conservatorship, and then examines what this may cost the taxpayer.

20% Wind Energy by 2030: Increasing Wind Energy’s Contribution to U.S. Electricity Supply (2008) (U.S. Dept. of Energy, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy) -- This report discusses the effects of a plan to generate 20% of the US electricity by 2030 and examines the costs involved as well as the challenges and benefits of the plan. U.S. Counterterrorism in Sub-Saharan Africa: Understanding Costs, Cultures, and Conflicts (Strategic Studies Institute) -- This report discusses the potential risks of terrorism in Sub-Saharan Africa and recommends a new proposal for combating terrorism in the region.

Changing Course: A New Direction for U.S. Relations with the Muslim World (2008) (U.S.-Muslim Engagement Project in affiliation with the Search for Common Ground (SFCG)) -- The report "represents the consensus of an exceptionally diverse, senior, bipartisan and inter-faith group of 34 American leaders who have worked together over the last 18 months.
