Classical Music Library

Database can be accessed by a maximum of four users at any one time.
Fully searchable, comprehensive database of distinguished musical recordings.  It includes tens of thousands of licensed recordings that users can listen to over the Internet.   Selections range from Medieval to contemporary music, from the earliest Gregorian chants to avant-gard works by modern composers—including symphonic music, vocal and instrumental music, choral works, and other forms. The audio selections are cross-referenced to a database of supplementary reference information, which includes thousands of program notes, biographies of composers, images sorted by composer, concerts on a theme, midi files, a glossary and a history of music .  Users may register to build individualized playlists and download favorites.  Downloading songs to a personal computer involves a small fee for copyright/royalty purposes.

Dissertations and Theses

Contains more than 2 million entries for doctoral dissertations and master’s theses. The database includes citations for materials ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester. Since 1997, new publications have been available electronically, and many publications can be ordered through the system for a fee. The database represents the work of authors from over 1,000 North American graduate schools and European universities. Angelo State University faculty, students, and staff have free access to 24 page previews and the full text in PDF format, when available, of all ASU theses published through UMI Dissertation Publishing.
