Searching Library Resources: RamCat & Online Resources

To search RamCat and Online Resources effectively, you must know about the various options available. Although each database is different, for the most part, they can all be searched similarly. You have already seen an example of title searches in RamCat -- where you type in the exact words of the title, leaving off any initial a, an, or the. The computer will return only results with these words (character strings) in exactly the order typed if you search for them "as a phrase". We have also done a general search in an Online Resources database (Academic Search Premier), where the database pulled records matching a word typed into the search box and returned results with the most recent records appearing first. Let's now talk about some other types of searches.
