West Texas Collection

Resources Available in the WTC

BOOKS: WTC total approximately 15,000 volumes in Reading Room and 1,150 linear feet of closed stacks. These books include genealogy, Texas History, folklore, fiction, and farm and ranch. All books are listed in the Library's on-line catalog.

MANUSCRIPT AND DOCUMENT COLLECTIONS: total 300 and covers more than 3,000 linear feet including personal, family papers, records of organizations, the university archives and courthouse records.

PHOTOGRAPHS AND NEGATIVES: WTC houses over 10,000 in various collections and 18 linear feet of photographs from the San Angelo Standard-Times. These pictures detail the evolution of San Angelo and the surrounding areas from the beginning of settlement. Photographs of interest around the state are also included.

MICROFILM AND MICROFICHE: includes over 3,000 reels and includes census records (complete for Texas), tax rolls, death indexes and many area newspapers.

The WTC holds 23 linear feet of vertical files. Topics include San Angelo, genealogy, information onTexas and outlaws.
