Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference

Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference

Each year the Office of Multicultural Activities selects individuals to participate in the annual Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference at Texas A & M. The conference offers a myriad of opportunities for networking and development for ASU student leaders.

Here’s what former SBSLC participants had to say about the conference:

“This conference was one of the most inspiring, life changing events that I have ever been to. I look forward to being in attendance again next year and will probably still try to go once I have graduated!”

Brittany Joyner-Byrd

“Seeing an event that was so successful and ran by African-American students makes my heart happy. It shows that we want to be great and that we will better ourselves to get there.”

Dee Massey

“The Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference provided excellent opportunities for interaction with minority students and leaders from all over the world. Even though this was my first year attending, I set high expectations for the conference. Those expectations were well exceeded. If I had to sum the entire event up with one word, I would have to describe the experience as inspirational.”

Lauren Higgins

“I will apply this knowledge by helping younger students to build more leaders and diversity on the campus. I would like to empower our communities through service and by acknowledgement of their importance and support. I would also like to stress the importance of involvement on the college campus and redefine the meaning of teamwork.”
