Leadership Development
The Multicultural Center strives to promote and develop positive leadership among participants in its programs.
Each year the Multicultural Center selects individuals to participate in an annual diversity and leadership conference. The conference offers a myriad of opportunities for networking and development for ASU student leaders.
In April 2010, student representatives attended the Texas Diversity and Leadership Conference in Dallas. This year’s conference, themed “Passion for Diversity,” featured sessions on a variety of topics, including mentoring, taking “smart risks,” generational diversity, professional development and personal branding. The conference also included several half-day workshops, as well as the Second Annual Multicultural Summit. The Multicultural Summit is a dialogue on issues of gender, race, ethnicity and sexual orientation.
Conference attendees will then take what they have learned at the conference and present a workshop during one of the center’s multicultural events.
