Transcripts contain confidential information, and they are only released in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.
A transcript is a comprehensive record of your academic work. It will include total hours transferred to Angelo State University, hours earned by exam and any degrees you have been awarded by ASU. Each transcript is printed on security paper to prevent copying, and the document includes the seal of the university and the signature of the university registrar.
You may request a transcript in person by coming to the Registrar’s Office in Room 200 of the Hardeman Building and completing the Transcript Request Form. Copies of transcripts for personal use follow the same policies as those used for transfer of information to other institutions, employers or prospective employers, or other entities requiring student academic information.
Transcripts can now be ordered via the internet 24/7 through the National Student Clearinghouse. There is no charge by ASU for transcripts, but a processing fee does apply. You can place as many orders as you like in one session using any major credit card. Your card will only be charged after your order has been completed. Order updates will be e-mailed to you. You can also track your order online using your e-mail address and order number.
Transcripts may not be picked up at the office by anyone other than the student unless that person has written authorization for the student. (Signatures will be verified.)
The Registrar’s Office will issue only ASU transcripts. ASU cannot issue transcripts from other institutions. Transcripts from other schools must be ordered from the original source.
ASU does not charge for the first 20 transcripts requested during each academic year. This includes requests by former students. Orders made through the National Student Clearinghouse will incur a minimal processing fee. Each transcript beyond the first 20 will be assessed a $3 fee for both current and former students.
Transcripts are normally processed within one business day upon receipt of a request. During peak times, such as registration and/or graduation, please allow additional time for the processing of your request. The Registrar’s Office will not honor a request for express mail or courier service of transcripts. Students requiring express mail or courier service may pick up the sealed copy of their official transcript and make their own arrangements for such service.
If there is a hold on your record that prevents you from receiving a transcript, you will be notified that your transcript was not sent due to a hold on your record. The office that placed the hold will be listed on the receipt. You must contact the office listed to have the hold removed.
