Laboratory and Chemical Safety

ASU is committed to providing a safe environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. The Office of Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management’s Laboratory and Chemical Safety Program initiatives are based on federal, state and local regulations to ensure the health and well-being of all individuals using or coming in contact with chemical or biological agents inside and outside the classrooms at Angelo State University.

The Laboratory and Chemical Safety Program involves numerous initiatives, including classroom laboratory inspections, university chemical inventory, tracking and approving chemical ordering, permitting chemicals and the disposal of chemicals used by the university.

Proper handling and equipment use, both inside and outside the labs, are important safety measures to prevent injury.

For more information and/or training opportunities involving laboratory and chemical safety, please contact the Office of Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management at (325) 942-2180.
