Success Stories

AgiLight, Inc.

Mr. Bryan Vincent

Mr. Vincent first visited the ASU-SBDC in June 2003 for assistance in setting up an investor's meeting in San Angelo, Texas. He owned the rights to technology patents, which he had developed while employed with a large company in the Northeast. He was interested in starting a business in his hometown utilizing the technology he had helped to create. After many meetings and much hard work, Mr. Vincent successfully obtained investment dollars and began his company on September 17, 2003. And, on October 21, 2003, AgiLight, Inc. became the first client to occupy the Concho Valley Center for Entrepreneurial Development and began utilizing the wide range of services provided by the business incubation program operated in the first year by the staff of the Angelo State University Small Business Development Center.

AgiLight develops, manufactures, and distributes high-quality, low-cost LED solid-state lighting products across a broad range of vertical markets. AgiLight's proprietary technologies focus on leveraging state-of-the-art LED manufacturing and assembly coupled with its patented lighting technologies to develop high-efficiency and cost-competitive lighting solutions with major environmental benefits. This includes the elimination of mercury in the manufacturing of LED neon replacement products and the significant energy saving of their long life solid-state designs. The AgiLight intellectual property portfolio contains patented LED bulb designs, proprietary accent lighting applications, high-throughput manufacturing, and know-how in turnkey electronics and product integration.

In utilizing the services of the CVCED and ASU-SBDC, Mr. Vincent and his staff have gained access to numerous hours of one-on-one counseling, a variety of small business training events, and comprehensive business incubation services including the integration of accounting programs and the creation of an extensive marketing plan. Mr. Vincent, on behalf of AgiLight, Inc., credits the ASU-SBDC staff with helping to gain nearly $3 million in investment funding, creating 6 new jobs, and saving approximately $50,000.

Mr. Vincent goes so far as to state, "The CVCED and ASU-SBDC have been a foundation for the start up of AgiLight, Inc. I do not know how successful we would be at this point if it weren't for the staff and services of both programs working in conjunction to better my management skills and thus my business. I am highly grateful to Pamela Venable, Dave Erickson, Lisa Michalewicz, Melissa Farr, and Tiffanie Black for the support and guidance they have given me."
