Welcome to Training and Development!

Welcome to the ASU Training and Development website, a resource for employee learning. On this page, you will find information regarding required employee training, as well as elective learning and development opportunities. 

  • Required Employee Training

    Here is the schedule for employee training required in 2016-17. All courses are online in Blackboard. Employees will be automatically enrolled at least four weeks prior to the due date, unless otherwise indicated. 

    Fall Semester

    • Sexual Harassment Prevention and Protection Training (2016) 

      Required of all employees of the State of Texas, this training explains the types of sexual harassment, ways to prevent it in the workplace, the ASU Policy OP 52.40, and the process for filing a harassment complaint. 

    • Equal Employment Opportunity Training (2017) 

      The purpose of this training is to make employees aware of the Fair Employment Laws, and Angelo State University’s EEO Policy and commitment to equal employment opportunities. The training also explains the ASU grievance process, as well as the employee’s role in upholding equal employment opportunities. 

    Spring Semester

    • Title IX Responsible Employee Training (annually)

      Institutions, such as ASU, receiving federal funding are required to train their employees about their role as Responsible Employees. That includes understanding the reporting process of an alleged Title IX incident and knowing how to contact the University Title IX Coordinator. 

    • Campus Carry Training (annually)

      This training explores the new Texas Campus Carry Law, responsibilities of licensed gun owners while on campus, areas of campus that prohibit firearms, and the ASU Campus Carry Policy. 

    Summer

    • Child Protection Training (as needed). Required only for faculty and staff who will be working with minors on campus in University events and activities, such as camps, festivals, and competitions. Supervisors can request enrollment for staff by sending a request to hr@angelo.edu. This training is most commonly taken for summer work; however, it is available all year, as needed.
  • Professional Development

    Angelo State University offers opportunities for employees to continually learn and develop. Faculty and staff can utilize resources for improving interpersonal communication and customer service skills, running more effective meetings, finding opportunities for collaborative decision-making, and developing leadership skills.
