ASU Magazine Fall 2013
Summer 2013 • Vol. 6 • No. 3
The newly released fall 2013 issue of Angelo State University Magazine examines the ASU theatre program and the myriad students, faculty and staff who work together both behind the scenes and on stage to provide quality theatrical productions for the ASU community and the public.
The latest edition also salutes and profiles this year’s ASU Alumni Association Homecoming honorees.
In “The Drama of Drama” cover section, readers get an in-depth look at the entire process of staging an ASU theatre production. Divided into five parts, it follows the process from conception to set construction and costuming, and from dress rehearsal to the raising of the curtain.
In the Features section, “Boom! Goes the Market” takes a look at how the recent West Texas oil boom is affecting the local housing market, as well as the implications for the area and ASU.
The magazine’s Along the Mall section highlights several aspects of the university, including the success of ASU’s first capital campaign, groundbreaking for a new agriculture education center at the ASU Ranch and recognition for ASU as a “Great College to Work For.” Also detailed are the return of a high-profile alumna as spring commencement speaker, a special anniversary for the ROTC program, major honors for two of our top students, and how books published by two members of the security studies faculty are generating international publicity for ASU.
Also in the expanded Along the Mall section, “Piecing Together a Picture” features one of the campus’ newest artworks, as well as the efforts of artist Julie Richey and her crew as they constructed the “San Angelo Heritage Mosaic” that now adorns the area outside the Porter Henderson Library.
In the Alumni section, “Blue & Gold Bonds” profiles an ASU alum with strong family ties to the university and his efforts to bring more Rams and Rambelles into the fold.
Additionally, the magazine provides coverage of the events, people and sports activities that give ASU its rich character
