What Can You Do With a Biology Degree?
Research Excellence
Our outstanding research facilities include the Angelo State Natural History Collections and a Greenhouse that features plants from around the world. Funding for student research is available, and our students regularly win research presentation awards from professional organizations like the Texas Society of Mammalogists, Texas Academy of Science and Southwestern Association of Naturalists.
Elite Connections
You can join our chapter of the Tri-Beta national biological honor society that is the most decorated chapter in the U.S. Our faculty are also respected scientists with worldwide connections in the scientific community. And our pre-med program is well-known by Texas medical schools as one of the top programs in the state.
Hands-On Learning
You can conduct plant and wildlife studies in the field, catalog specimens in our Natural History Collections, trap and tag animals with your professors, participate in recycling efforts to preserve the environment, and research microorganisms and DNA in the lab. You can also shadow local doctors and other healthcare professionals. And maybe the most exciting is our annual summer study abroad trip to Costa Rica!
