About the Program
- Develop your communication, leadership, research and critical-thinking skills while you specialize your degree plan to fit your career interests. You can choose the Coaching/Sport Administration option or the Recreation/Fitness Administration option.
- Join our program’s student organization for social and volunteer activities, networking and professional development. We also offer Developing Women Coaches graduate assistantships for women.
Our highly-competitive program will prepare you for employment in a wide variety of career fields, including coaching, athletic advising and administration, special event marketing, facility management, all manner of recreation programs, and the fitness, resort, and tourism industries.
Interested students can also earn an Athletic Academic Advising Certificate within their degree plan for a valuable added credential.
We also offer several Graduate Assistant positions each year, including our Developing Women Coaches Graduate Assistantship, where you can work with our athletic teams.
Program Faculty
Our faculty are also industry professionals who bring their real-world experience to the classroom and lab. You can collaborate with them on research projects, and our small class sizes mean you get the individual attention you deserve.
Career Opportunities
Start or advance your career as soon as you graduate. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment opportunities in coaching, many areas of sports and fitness, and many types of recreation programs are expected to increase at a faster than average rate through 2028, adding thousands of new jobs.
