What Can You Do With a History Degree?

Earning your history degree will give you career options in law, museums and archives, foreign relations, the military and many other fields. Our graduates enjoy successful careers in many history-related fields, and as teachers, lawyers and military officers.

Elite Speaker Programs

The Dr. Arnoldo De Leon Department of History hosts a variety of speaker programs throughout the year, bringing historians, researchers and historical authors to campus. ASU’s annual Holland-Harrell Foreign Affairs Speakers Program also invites former ambassadors to campus to provide students with a broader worldview and a look at potential career opportunities in the Foreign Service.

Hands-On Learning

Gain practical experience through research opportunities with your professors and internships at regional historical sites and nonprofit agencies, including the ASU West Texas Collection, Historic Fort Concho, Historic Fort Chadbourne, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts and Downtown San Angelo Inc.

Connect and Engage

Our students have multiple opportunities to engage in a fun community of teachers and scholars through our registered student organizations, the History Society and Phi Alpha Theta, as well as opportunities to attend conferences and participate in the Santa Angela Review student-edited journal.
