Clinical Social Work D.S.W. Admission

The yearly application is available on Aug. 1.

The Doctor of Social Work (D.S.W.) program at Angelo State University ONLY reviews and admits applicants for the Fall semester.

In addition to the general requirements for admission to the College of Graduate Studies and Research, applicants for regular admission to the D.S.W. (Clinical of Social Work) program must file a separate departmental application to the Department of Social Work and Sociology and meet the following criteria:

Admission Requirements

Application for graduate admission is a multi-step process. All prospective D.S.W. students must follow the admission requirements below in addition to the admission requirements based on their track selected. *Acceptance is determined by the amount of available space.

Apply Texas application.

(Do not submit the required essay in Apply Texas). If you have problems accessing the application, please contact the College of Graduate Studies and Research at 325-942-2169 or graduate.studies@angelo.edu.
D.S.W. Application

Once the College of Graduate Studies and Research has processed your Apply Texas application, you will receive an email to pay your application fee, set up your Ramport account, and access the D.S.W. application. Please read the D.S.W. application carefully; the applicant must submit all application materials by the deadline, including correctly uploading unofficial transcripts.
Transcripts from baccalaureate degree awarding university or college

Within the D.S.W. application, please upload in PDF format your unofficial transcripts from every college and university you attended. If admitted, you will be required to submit official transcripts to the College of Graduate Studies and Research, with the exception of Angelo State University transcripts.

Please do not send official transcripts until you have received a notice of acceptance from Angelo State University. If an unofficial transcript is not on hand, please request one.

Official university transcripts should be sent through a secure electronic method (examples: Credential Solutions, Parchment, etc.) to graduate.studies@angelo.edu or by mail to:

Essay

(i.e., statement of purpose), written in American Psychological Association format, covering their goals for the degree, career plans after graduation, and who you wish to be your major professor/advisor from the Department’s tenured/tenure-track faculty; this will also serve as a writing sample. Submit through the D.S.W. application.
International Student Admission Requirements

We love welcoming international students to campus. In addition to meeting the regular admission requirements, please visit our International Graduate Student Admission Requirements webpage. You must meet additional application requirements before the Center for International Studies can issue a Form I-20 Certificate for Eligibility.

Prerequisites

A GPA of 3.0 or higher in an M.S.W. program
M.S.W. degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program of Social Work (or an M.S.W. degree program in candidacy status with the CSWE).

A social work license in any state at the master’s level is preferred (e.g., LMSW, LCSW, LICSW, etc.) but not strictly required.

Confirmation Acceptance

Candidates will receive an email notification from the Department of Social Work and Sociology with a degree plan confirming your intention to enroll in the D.S.W. program at Angelo State University.

Degree Plans are due two (2) weeks after being sent out; failure to sign and submit the form prior to the deadline will result in being waitlisted.

Note: The Department of Social Work and Sociology will notify waitlisted applicants upon availability.

Application Deadlines

These deadlines are for applications only. Financial Aid and Scholarships may have their own deadlines.

Fall: Feb. 15

ASU will process your application as quickly as possible; however, applying early gives you the best opportunity for admission. A general rule is to submit your application and supporting documents as early as possible when the application window is available.
