What Can You Do With a Studio Art Degree?

Earning your studio art degree will open career doors in a variety of settings, including design firms, museums and art galleries, photography studios and all levels of art education. You can also be a self-employed studio artist or move on to graduate school.

Our graduates enjoy successful careers as studio artists, graphic designers, museum and gallery installers, college and museum educators, photographers and public school art teachers.

Elite Graphic Design Program

Our updated and competitive graphic design curriculum includes new courses in 2-D animation, branding and marketing, computer interaction design (UI/UX-Web and Interactive Design), as well as an established professional internship program.

Premier Facilities and Exhibitions

Have your work featured in Gallery 193, our on-campus teaching gallery that features both professional artists and student exhibitions. The ASU Mayer Museum also hosts major art exhibitions each year. Plus, our program takes annual field trips to major art collections in Texas, including the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, the Dallas Museum of Art and the Chinati Foundation in Marfa.

Top-Notch Ceramics Program

Our new ceramics studio is located in the ASU Mayer Museum and includes electric, raku and two large gas kilns. It’s also equipped with clay 3-D printers and the latest in ceramics technology. We have a close working relationship with the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts and its Concho Clay Studio, collaborating on the National Ceramics Symposium, National Ceramics Competition and National Ceramics Invitational.
