Summer Financial Aid

If you have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year and meet all requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), you may be eligible for financial aid for your summer courses.

You will automatically be evaluated for summer financial aid based on your summer enrollment using your 2023-24 FAFSA application. Awarding of summer aid will begin the third week of April. If you not have completed a 2023-2024 FAFSA the deadline is June 30, 2024.

Grant-eligible students may receive funding based on need eligibility and summer enrollment status

Loans

Summer is a continuation of the current school year. Federal loans eligibility in the summer is based on the remaining eligibility after the fall and spring. summer (undergraduate – 6 hours, graduate – 3 hours). Enrollment does not have to be in one term but can be spread out between the summer terms. Must be degree-seeking students.

Additional credit-based loan options are available for students who do not have any remaining Federal Direct Loan eligibility.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

Students must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) at the end of the spring semester in order to be eligible for summer financial aid. Your summer aid is typically awarded before the spring grades post in May. Once the spring grades post in May, we are federally required to determine if the student is meeting the SAP requirements. Students not meeting the SAP requirements will lose their financial aid eligibility.


Please notify the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships of any changes to your summer enrollment after you have been awarded. These changes will require review and may result in changes to your financial aid awards.
