Don Griffis
Like many West Texans during previous conflicts, Griffis took advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to record a new and unfamiliar land and its people with his camera.
Don Griffis was born in Texas in 1942 and grew up in San Angelo. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1961 and served as a captain and a legal officer in Force Logistics Command. While serving in Vietnam, he produced a large number of color photographs, including many of temples, people, landscapes and cities.
Don Griffis passed away in 2022.
