Graduates
Once You Arrive
Please check in at Auxiliary Court inside the Junell Center 30 minutes prior to your ceremony.
You should be in full regalia (i.e. cap, gown, etc.), and will receive a card with your name on it to hand to the speaker when you cross the stage.
Personal Belongings
There is no storage available during the ceremony. Please leave excess items at home or with your family for safe-keeping.
- You will proceed into the arena as directed by commencement staff and marshals. They will lead you to your seat.
- When it is time, you will then walk up the ramp and hand your name card to the reader at the podium.
- Proceed across the stage, and at the far end of the stage, you will receive your diploma cover and pose with President Hawkins for a professional photograph.
- To ensure you are properly photographed, please hold the diploma cover in an upright position with the school seal facing the camera and pause briefly for your picture with President Hawkins.
- At the end of the ramp, the ASU Alumni Association will present the student with an alumni packet.
You will be led out of the arena by the commencement staff and marshals. Please exit via the Auxiliary Court. In order for us to prepare for the next ceremony, we ask you to please exit the Junell Center quickly.
We absolutely want you to share this experience with your family and friends! We encourage photos and invite you to spend some time on campus. However, we do ask that you consider taking your photos at additional spots on campus. This will allow the next ceremony to find appropriate parking.
Some of our favorite on-campus photo spots include:
- Anywhere along the Angelo State mall
- In front of any of our corner signage (the rock sign on the corner of Dena and Rosemont is a wonderful spot)
- On the steps of the Porter Henderson Library
- The main university sign in front of the Administration Building
Attendees and Guests
Doors will open one hour prior to each ceremony.
We ask you to please exit the Junell Center quickly. This will allow us adequate time to clean and sanitize the space before the next ceremony begins.
