Staff Tour of ASU Ranch (MIR)

Staff Senate, in partnership with the Agriculture Department, will provide a guided tour of the ASU Management, Instruction, and Research (MIR) Center, including:  the food product development lab, meat market, laboratories, arena, elevated multimedia classroom, and the Ranch and Livestock working operations.

Located about six miles north of San Angelo on the north shore of O.C. Fisher Lake, the MIR Center consists of 6,000 acres of range and farm land leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The center is managed for environmental quality and as a wildlife habitat as well as for the production of cattle, sheep and goats.

The agriculture research projects conducted at the center are aimed at improving management decisions of West Texas livestock producers and natural resource managers.
