Rambunctious Weekend is Angelo State’s opening weekend for first-year and returning students.

Rambunctious Weekend events run Aug. 23–25. We look forward to officially welcoming new Rams and Rambelles to campus!

The Ram Family Connection will welcome parents and families upon check-in.

Freshman Welcome Lunch
The ASU community is invited to lunch to welcome first-year students and their families during move-in! First-year students and families can take a break from the heat and enjoy the first of many free meals during Rambunctious Weekend.

Transfer and Student Veterans Social
Join the VETS Center to welcome transfer and military veteran students and their dependents to Angelo State.

All new first-year and transfer students (and guests) are invited to join fellow students, faculty, staff and administrators at this event that marks the beginning of your college career and journey of excellence: Convocation. You will be welcomed by the president, the provost, the Student Government Association president, and Kevin Carroll, ASU alumnus. The ceremony celebrates the history of ASU and calls upon students to make a commitment to their academic success. View the Convocation Invitation.

Join us for a Texas-style BBQ hosted by Chartwells Dining Services after attending Convocation. Relax and unwind after a long day and enjoy the evening’s activities.

UCPC Events
The award-winning University Center Program Council (UCPC) will provide events and activities, including: a Segway obstacle course, photo dry erase boards, caricature and body-paint artists, and a 200-foot zip-line.

Join the Multicultural Center for the annual Angelo State facts and history scavenger hunt. Registration begins at 9 p.m. with the race beginning at 10 p.m.

First-year students and families are invited to breakfast to say a fond farewell before students begin activities planned for the Class of 2017.

You are invited to a reception with various campus service areas including: University Police, Financial Aid, Housing and Residential Programs, Health Clinic and Student Services.

First-Year Quest
Join UREC - Outdoor Adventures and New Student Orientation as we take first-year students on an adventure worth remembering. Come wearing closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing – everything else will be left as a surprise. All participants will receive a small gift to remind them of their experience. (Lunch is available in the Food Service Center from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. with your OneCard.) To pre-register: First-Year Quest Registration Form.

Zumba Demonstration
The Multicultural Center invites you to experience this Zumba demonstration. Similar classes are held weekly for free during the fall and spring semesters.

UREC Flag Football Tournament
Join UREC during this annual Rambunctious Weekend tournament where students can experience this popular intramural activity and prepare their team for a campus championship!

Ballroom Demonstration
The Multicultural Center invites you experience ballroom dancing. Similar classes are held weekly for free during the fall and spring semesters.

6-8 p.m. Fajita Cookout
The annual fajita cookout is hosted by local church ministry groups. Spiritual Life at ASU invites you to a delicious dinner and welcomes you to ASU!

6-8 p.m. Registered Student Organization (RSO) Tailgate  You’re invited to tailgate with ASU student organizations before the big Spirit Rally.  Meet with Greek Life, club sports and some of our most active organizations.

Events and activities will include an inflatable obstacle course, photo dry erase boards, magnets, key chains and a caricaturist.

8:15 - 9:30 p.m. Spirit Rally
Go Rams! The Spirit Rally is held to pass on ASU traditions to first-year students. Learn the ASU Fight Song and Alma Mater, participate in interactive games, and meet athletes, ASU Ram Band, Angelettes dance team, and ASU cheerleaders.

9:30 - 11 p.m. UCPC Presents: Neon Night
As the largest black light dance party at ASU, this event features 10-foot video screens, glow paint and a laser light show.

Spend the afternoon meeting new people and working with local groups that make San Angelo a great place to live!  Please wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing.

Throughout the weekend when you have free time, pick up your textbooks in the University Center Bookstore.
