ASU Choir: Pops at the Pavillion

Thursday, April 24, 2014 7:30 p.m.

The Angelo State University Chamber Singers and Vocal Ensemble will pay tribute to celebrated musical theatre composers at this year’s Pops at the Pavilion.  The concert, entitled “Legends of Broadway,” is Thursday, April 24 at the University Pavilion (near the high-rise dorm).   A community favorite, the choir’s annual outdoor Pops features a casual ‘song and dance’ format that’s entertaining for the entire family.  The show begins at 7:30 p.m.

Opening the program are favorites by pioneers Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, and the Gershwin brothers.  Selections by the song-writing teams of Rodgers and Hammerstein and Styne—Sondheim will represent Broadway’s ‘golden age.’   Showpieces from Bernstein’s West Side Story and A Chorus Line by Marvin Hamlisch will round out the program with more contemporary styles.

Make room for Pops at the Pavilion on your calendar.  What better way to soothe spring fever than with the melodious sounds and beautiful sights of ASU?   Bring your family and friends (and a jacket, if cool) to this fun and relaxing evening of quality entertainment.  You’ll be glad you did!
