ASU will present a summer art exhibit of works by San Angelo-based artist and sculptor Amy Gerhauser in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

Amy GerhauserAmy GerhauserTitled “The Pacific Gyre Series: Projects About Consumption and Loss,” the exhibit will feature a series of sculptures dealing with the environmental issue of plastic debris in the oceans. The exhibit will be on display in the EFA Building’s Gallery 193 and will be open for free public viewing Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 8

Gerhauser’s ASU exhibit will also include a “Plastic Selfie” station, where visitors are invited to use their smartphones to take photos of any plastic items carried with them – and then text the photos to Gerhauser. The photos will be printed and added to the Plastic Selfie wall in the exhibit, as well as on Instagram, and will become part of the exhibit.

Gerhauser is a member of the International Sculpture Center, Texas Sculpture Group and Women Environmental Art Directory. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of California-Santa Cruz and her Master of Fine Arts from Old Dominion University.
