ASU Symphony Orchestra: “A Trumpet Call”

The ASU Symphony Orchestra will present the opening concert of its 2018-19 season on Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the ASU Auditorium located inside the Mayer Administration Building at 2601 W. Ave. N.

Titled “A Trumpet Call,” the concert will begin at 7 p.m. and is open free to the public. It is the latest installment of the ASU Symphony Faculty Series and will feature music professor Dr. John Irish on trumpet.

The musical repertoire for the concert will include:

  • Overture in A minor, from “Suite TWV 55:a1” by Georg Phillip Telemann
  • “Sonata for Trumpet and Strings” by Henry Purcell
  • “Oblivion” by Astor Piazzolla
  • “Carmen Suite” by Georges Bizet
  • Berceuse and Finale, from “The Firebird Suite” by Igor Stravinsky

The ASU Symphony Orchestra comprises more than 40 student musicians and is directed by Dr. Fagner M. Rocha, assistant professor of music.
