Faculty Music Recital: Dr. Timothy Bonenfant

Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, Eldon Black Recital Hall
ASU music faculty member, Dr. Timothy Bonenfant, presents his spring clarinet recital featuring clarinet classics and a song written just for him.

Dr. Bonenfant will perform the following solo pieces on the bass clarinet:

  • “Suite for Bass Clarinet” by Adolf Busch
  • “Sonate für bassklarinette” by Harald Genzmer
  • “7F” by Cara Haxo
  • “Persona IV: Miguel de Cervantes Saaverda” by Virko Baley
  • “God Bless the Child” by Eric Dolphy

“Suite for Bass Clarinet” is likely the first piece ever written for unaccompanied bass clarinet; and “Persona IV: Miguel de Cervantes Saaverda” was written specifically for Bonenfant, who premiered it in 2015 at a performance in Madrid, Spain.

About Dr. Bonenfant

A professor of music, Bonenfant directs ASU’s Single-Reeds Studio and performs with two fellow ASU music faculty as The Mesquite Trio. He has performed with the Nevada Symphony Orchestra, Las Vegas Philharmonic, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Abilene Philharmonic and San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has also accompanied such notable performers as Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Randy Newman, Dudley Moore, Bobby Shew, the Village People and the Moody Blues.
