Purpose of Omega
To recognize those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of leadership in inter-Greek activities, to encourage them to continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment; To bring together outstanding fraternity men and women to create an organization that will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate fraternity affairs; To bring together members of the faculty, alumni, and student members of the institution’s fraternities and sororities on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness.
Order of Omega History:
The Order of Omega was founded at the University of Miami in the fall of 1959 by a group of outstanding fraternity men, who felt that individuals in the Greek community should be recognized for their service to the fraternity system and the University. There are now over 300 chapters in the United States. The Eta Omicron chapter at the University of the Pacific was founded and chartered on December 15, 1986. Since our founding, we have initiated hundreds of men & women and look forward to initiating new members into our organization.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
To be eligible for membership in Order of Omega, a student shall meet the following minimum requirements:
1. Applicants must have at least one full academic year at Angelo State University.
2. Junior or Senior (undergraduate) standing.
3. Rank academically above the all-Greek average; 2.9 GPA or higher. (cumulative GPA)
4. Be in good standing with the Greek fraternal organization.
