"I had the opportunity to teach String Methods\, direct a small student/faculty orchestra\, and present an ongoing lecture series on String Pedagogy\, Western Music His tory\, Jazz\, and the Elements of Music. "During this presentation I wil l share my experience as an Army musician and music educator in Iraq. Thi s story will touch on the dangers and challenges that face deployed servi cemen and women\, as well as focus on the hurdles Basra University faces in building a music department in a hostile environment.
