Grad Student Wins Scholarship to Study in Moscow

Mary Jones, a student in Angelo State University’s Russian language program, has received a scholarship coordinated by the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies (CREES) to continue her studies in Moscow this summer.

Mary Jones Mary Jones Jones, one of only 24 Texas students selected for the 2016 Moscow-Texas Connections program, is a graduate of Wall High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from ASU in May of 2014. She is currently working on her Master of Science in biology at ASU. Her Russian studies trip will run from June 6-Aug. 6.

CREES is a component of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. ASU’s Russian program is part of the Department of English and Modern Languages, which is a member of the Texas, Russian and Eurasian Studies Network (TRESN). Ewa Davis, ASU instructor of Russian, served for a year on the TRESN Steering and Selection Committee for institutions of higher learning.
