ROTC Staffer’s Marathon Fundraising Effort
September 12, 2016
The Air Force Marathon takes place each year at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. More than 15,000 runners are expected this year to compete in four distance events: full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K races. Gauthier will compete in the half marathon while her husband, Staff Sgt. Chris Gauthier, runs the full marathon.
Sarah Gauthier is running to raise money for the Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV), a nonprofit organization that provides housing for surviving spouses of retired Air Force enlisted personnel and those who died while on active duty. AFEV is located in Shalimar, Fla., near Eglin Air Force Base and consists of both independent and assisted-living apartment communities. More details are available at http://afev.us.
Gauthier’s goal is to raise at least $1,000 toward the expansion of AFEV’s community center. Anyone wishing to contribute may do so online at www.crowdrise.com/sarah-teamafev2016.
Gauthier joined the ASU Department of Aerospace Studies/ROTC in October 2015 for her second Air Force assignment. Her first assignment was as a personnel NCO and administrative assistant to the command chief at Eglin AFB. She holds two bachelor’s degrees from Oregon State University and an associate degree from Community College of the Air Force.
