Homeland Security Online Program Nationally Ranked

Angelo State University’s online Bachelor of Security Studies degree program in border and homeland security has been ranked among the nation’s “Top 50 Best Value Online Bachelor’s of Homeland Security and Emergency Management” for 2017 by the ValueColleges.com higher education resource guide.

ASU’s program ranked No. 32 in the U.S. on the list that was selected from more than 500 programs at institutions recognized as following Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) higher education curriculum guidelines. Further criteria for the rankings included each school’s reputation and affordability, as well as return on investment data from the College Scorecard service. 

The ASU Department of Security Studies and Criminal Justice offers the B.S.S. in border and homeland security, which consists of 120 credit hours and can be completed totally online or in a hybrid online and on-campus format.

The only other Texas school to make the ValueColleges.com rankings was West Texas A&M University. The complete rankings are available at www.valuecolleges.com/rankings/online-undergraduate-homeland-security-2017/. 

Another higher education resource guide, CollegeValuesOnline.com, has also ranked ASU as one of the nation’s “15 Best Value Colleges for a Homeland Security Degree Online” for 2017. 

ASU ranked No. 12 on the list and was the only Texas school to make the CollegeValuesOnline.com rankings. Criteria for the rankings included tuition costs, each program’s customization options, the number of students receiving financial aid, and various “wow factors.” Information was gleaned from university websites and the College Navigator service. Angelo State’s online B.S.S. in border and homeland security has also been previously ranked among the best programs in the nation by the BestColleges.com and OnlineColleges.net higher education resource guides. 

ASU also offers a master’s degree in homeland security; bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice and intelligence, security studies and analysis; and master’s degrees in criminal justice, security studies, and intelligence, security studies and analysis.
