La Esperanza Clinic Makes Big Impact in Short Service Period
August 31, 2017
Although Sonia Ramirez-Munoz had to cut her VISTA term short, the impact she had on La Esperanza Clinic has spurred significant changes!
During her two months at La Esperanza Clinic she had the opportunity to not only be involved with an amazing organization but to gain invaluable insight into the world of healthcare communication. One of the major projects she had the opportunity to collaborate on, was the creation of a New Patient Resource Guide that detailed the services of the clinic.
The guide, available in both English and Spanish, provides new patients information they need to make La Esperanza Clinic their health home.
In the first few weeks of her VISTA service she was tasked with helping revamp the clinic’s Facebook pages. The organization had lacked a presence on social media and one of the first steps was to create content that would engage the clinic’s followers.
In addition to sharing behind the scene pictures of the events the clinic sponsored, new content was created to highlight the HPV vaccination and awareness campaign the clinic is currently hosting in collaboration with the American Cancer Society.
Using the efforts on social media platforms as a VISTA, Sonia had the opportunity to provide her input in the implementation of a new billboard campaign. Along with the billboard company she brainstormed to create ads that were reflective of the message the clinic wanted to provide the community.
Sonia took part of the National Men’s Health Week Fair that provided the men of the community a chance to get free blood sugar testing and access to a wide arrange of information.
Sonia stated “even though my time was brief at La Esperanza Clinic, working with such an amazing and welcoming organization has been one of the best experiences of my life.”
