Recreation Assistant Extra Help - (Animal Caretaker)
Supervises and performs live animal care and husbandry. Performs daily maintenance operations. Plans and implements exhibit design and construction. Conducts interpreted natural history tours of the Nature Center and Trail systems. Teaches natural history, life sciences, and ecology programs. Assists in program development. Supervises volunteers as required and other related duties as required.
High School diploma or GED required. Strong background in Biology preferred. Good communication skills (written and oral) required. Must be pleasant, helpful and informative in dealing with the general public. Must possess a strong ability to work with children of all ages. Ability to speak to large groups, setup workshops, and assist in supervising volunteers. Must be willing to work with living specimens of all types, including snakes, spiders, scorpions, and other similar creatures. Must be in good working condition to conduct nature trail tours of minimum one-mile duration. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Ability to lift 30 lbs. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required. Occasional use of personal vehicle will be used to drive to off-site Nature Center events.
25 variable hours per week, including weekend, evening, and holiday hours.
