Work Study Student Assistant
Performs a variety of clerical tasks in a professional and service-oriented manner under supervision. General office duties to include: filing, copying, answering the telephone, computer data entry, scanning documents, collecting/processing mail, running campus errands, make file folders, labels and index dividers as directed in the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality.
Position requires excellent telephone etiquette, professional mannerisms, proficient computer skills, and the ability to communicate and listen effectively. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures; computer literacy in Excel, Word, MS Office. Must meet all Work Study eligibility requirements.
Knowledge of secretarial, clerical and general office procedures and practices; knowledge of spelling, grammar and punctuation; knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications and software.
Skill in the operation of a personal computer, as appropriate to the assignment; skill in oral and written communication; skill in interpersonal relations.
Ability to read, write, and speak in English; ability to keyboard 35-40 WPM; ability to organize and complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner; ability to perform work requiring accuracy and attention to detail; ability to operate a variety of office equipment.
Requires prolonged periods of sitting, occasional walking, and intermittent bending and standing; medium level manual dexterity; occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
Works in a pleasant, well-lighted, temperature-controlled environment; frequent periods of heavy workload.
Some previous clerical experience preferred. Up to 20 hours per week. Flexible with class schedule. .Prefer afternoon availability. Possible employment during summer if enrolled in summer classes, but summer employment is not guaranteed.
