Being chosen to take part in the Eat & Greet- Male Empowerment Month Edition was somewhat of an eye opening experience. I was able to sit down and converse with other male students from around campus. Some I knew, some I didn’t, but as the program is called I was able to eat with and greet a few other individuals.
As someone who comes from a small border town named Del Rio, Texas, I haven’t been exposed to a large variety of foods. I live close to a pond where I would usually go as a child to feed the ducks that lived there. So when Chef Jeremy Weaver said our main entrée was going to be duck, I was a little taken back.
After getting passed that however, I along with the other male students were able to enjoy a 5 course meal prepared personally by Chef Jeremy, ex-chef for no other than the New England Patriots. It was a genuine learning experience that taught us not only how to carve a duck and use some proper etiquette, but also gave us the pleasant experience of eating a 5 course meal prepared especially for us.
