ASU Office to Host Passport Fair

April 04, 2011

In celebration of Passport Day in the U.S.A. 2011, Angelo State University’s Passport Office will host a Passport Fair on Saturday, April 9, in the ASU Center for International Studies (CIS).

The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 9 and is open to the public. The CIS Passport Office is located in the East Office Annex at 1825 S. Johnson St. Anyone needing a passport or passport card is encouraged to attend.

The ASU Passport Office provides all the services available at the U.S. Post Office, including photos, applications, processing and renewals. Fees in the ASU office are also the same as those at the Post Office, with the exception of photos, which are slightly less at ASU. Fees include $110 to the U.S. Department of State, $25 to ASU and $10 for passport photos, if photos are needed. Fees can be paid by cash, check, money order or credit card, except the State Department fee, which must be a check or money order. The fee for a passport card is $30.

To apply for a passport or passport card, applicants must provide a certified copy of their birth certificate, an official government-issued photo ID and two color passport-size photos.

All travelers entering or re-entering the U.S. must have a passport or passport card, even at the Mexico border. Passport cards are about the size of a driver’s license and can substitute for a regular passport for land and sea border crossings from Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and Bermuda. However, international air travelers must have a regular passport.

More information on the cost and how to apply for a passport and/or a passport card is available at www.travel.state.gov. U.S. citizens may also obtain passport information by phone, in English and Spanish, by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 877-487-2778.
