We’re Right on Target

August 10, 2018

Dear Sponsors and Participants,

The dust has finally settled and all of the loose ends of Rams Reload 2018 have been tied up. Thank you. Thank you for making this the most successful Rams Reload event yet and thank you for making a huge difference in the lives of our students and the competitive clay target team here at Angelo State University.

Rams Reload 2018

The event this year saw a tremendous increase in sponsor and participant support. Net earnings for the event were up 40% over 2017 and shooter participation increased 36% from last year. We are proud to say that 100% of the net earnings Rams Reload goes directly to scholarships and the support of the Rams Clay Target Team. The coaching/advising staff are all volunteer and there are no administrative costs deducted from the event proceeds.

Scholarships

The Rams Reload Endowed Scholarship Fund continues to grow by leaps and bounds because of you. With the support of the Rams Reload event combined with the efforts of individual contributors, the endowment has doubled in size since it was started in 2017. We will continue to grow the endowment to the point that it is generating multiple scholarships for our students every year.

In addition to the endowment, proceeds from Rams Reload go directly to student scholarships every year. In 2017-2018 we awarded four $1,000 scholarships to students on the team. Because of the success we experienced in 2018 and because of our dedicated supporters, we will award six $1,000 scholarships to students in 2018-2019.

If you would like to give directly to the endowment fund and support scholarships for these students, please contact development@angelo.edu.

Team Update

The RCTT welcomes back the vast majority of the 2017-2018 team, including Taylor Cleaveland (Schertz, TX), the 2018 ACUI National Collegiate Sporting Clays class champion and 2018 Texas State Shoot NSCA Super Sporting ladies champion. We also welcome back Colten Hughes (Ackerly, TX) the 2018 Texas State Shoot NSCA 28 gauge FITASC and 20 gauge class runner-up, and Coleman Pittillo (Sterling City, TX) the 2018 Texas Sate Shoot NSCA FITASC class runner-up and .410 class 3rd place winner.

Recruiting

New to ASU in the fall, Cody Hada (Andrews, TX), Lexi Wickham (Cypress, TX) and Felicity Hannsz (Haskell, TX). Cody was selected to represent the state of Texas on the 4-H Texas Shotgun Team in 2018 and is also the recipient of a NSCA collegiate scholarship. Lexi is an accomplished 4-H and SCTP competitor and Felicity has excelled in both 4-H competitions and Junior Olympic trials. These are just a few of the new students that will join us in 2018-2019.

Rams Reload 2019

The committee and team are already preparing for Rams Reload 2019. Our tentative date is set for Saturday, May 4th, 2019. Save this date in May and be on the lookout for information and advertising for the event.

The support and enthusiasm for this group of students and the eagerness to encourage their success is truly humbling to me. Thank you for all that you have done for this program and I look forward to speaking with you about their many successes yet to come in 2018-2019. Thank you again and we will see you on the range.

Sincerely,
Kurtis Neal
