Ranch Student Assistant(s)
Position requires considerable standing and walking; periodic sitting, and intermittent bending, reaching, and lifting (up to 50 lbs). Employee works primarily outdoors in a variety of weather conditions with regular exposure to heat, cold, dust, pollen, chemicals, and foul odors. Employee may be required to utilize the following equipment: tractors and associated farm implements; farm/ranch truck; welder; cutting torch; feed mill; livestock sprayers; ATV and UTV. Some weekends and hours outside normal working hours may be required.
Assist Ranch Manager and Graduate Research Assistants in the daily operations of the University Ranch. These tasks include but are not limited to: daily care and feeding of livestock, tagging, weaning and sorting of cattle, sheep, and goats, range management practices (spraying invasive species), equipment, fence and facility maintenance, and assisting with research projects.

Students will be employed a maximum of 20 hours per week. Total hours worked per week will be determined by the Ranch Manager based on need and the employee’s class/lab schedule.
