The San Angelo native and 2010 Angelo State graduate started his own business in 2006 when he was just 19 years old and still an ASU student living at home with his parents. Today, Snider Technology has 13 employees, offices in downtown San Angelo and 200-plus client companies spread throughout West Central Texas.
With a mission to help small and medium-sized businesses leverage technology to achieve a competitive edge, Snider Technology manages and monitors IT networks for businesses and companies and provides a 24-7 help desk and IT consulting.
“It was an awesome job to have during college,” Snider said. “The clients were all perfectly understanding of my class schedule.”
“I’ve always known what I wanted to do,” he added. “I was building computers when I was 11 and 12 years old and kept doing that. I got my first job in IT when I was 17 with Professional Computing.
I was building computers when I was 11 and 12 years old…
Then two years later, I ventured out on my own.”
That venture has certainly paid off. Snider Technology won 2013 and 2016 Business Expansion Awards from the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, and Snider was named the 2016 Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 55-county San Antonio District. Having a successful company also allows Snider to sponsor events for the local Children’s Advocacy Center and San Angelo Area Foundation.
“What I’ve always envisioned for my business is to grow,” Snider said, “but not past the point where it’s still manageable, where we still have that personal touch.”
For his outstanding early career success and ongoing community involvement, the ASU Alumni Association has named Snider its 2018 Distinguished Young Alumnus.
“I’m excited,” Snider said. “It’s great to be nominated for an award like this. ASU is a great school in a great town.”
