Rams Clay Target Team Takes Second at Nationals

Angelo State University’s Rams Clay Target Team finished as national runner-up by claiming second place at the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) 2019 Collegiate Clay Target Championships held March 25-30 in San Antonio.

The Rams also took third place in the Team American All Around competition and placed in the top three in four of the six individual team events, including:

Individually for the Rams, Colten Hughes of San Angelo finished third and Coleman Pittillo of Sterling City finished 11th out of 367 shooters in the Men’s American Skeet Open competition. In the Men’s International Skeet Open competition, Cody Hada of Andrews placed eighth and Pittillo 21st out of 313 shooters. Hada also finished 20th out of 329 shooters in the Men’s Super Sport Open competition.

Taylor Cleaveland of Schertz placed eighth out of 86 shooters in the Women’s Sporting Clay Open competition and 11th out of 80 shooters in the Women’s Super Sport competition.

Also competing for the Rams Clay Target Team were Jacob Bird and Colton Cmerek of San Angelo, Sloan Kail of Midland, Braden Williams of Christoval and (Reagan) Pierce Wilson of Abilene. The faculty/staff sponsor of the team is Kurtis Neal, ASU director of human resources.
