Angelo State Signs New Transfer Agreement with Goodfellow AFB

February 06, 2020

Angelo State University has teamed up with Goodfellow Air Force Base (GAFB) to provide new educational opportunities for U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) personnel who have taken courses through the Defense Acquisition University (DAU).

Michael Quinn and Dr. Don Topliff sign the new transfer MOU.ASU and GAFB officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today (Feb. 6) that will allow DoD personnel who have been awarded at least a Level II Certification under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act to transfer DAU credits into ASU’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) in management degree program. Successful applicants will receive six graduate credit hours toward an MBA at ASU and can then complete the remainder of the degree program online.

Also, though the MOU has been signed with GAFB, any DoD personnel with the necessary certifications can receive the same credit and benefits at Angelo State.

Heading the process for the agreement were Dr. Andrew Tiger, chair of ASU’s Department of Management and Marketing; Maj. Michael Quinn, commander of the 17th Contracting Squadron at GAFB; Senior Master Sgt. Adam Heim and Master Sgt. Stephen Fray.

It is headquartered in Fort Belvoir, Va., and is accredited by the American Council on Education (ACE), International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and the Council on Occupational Education (COE).

This is just the latest articulation agreement between ASU and GAFB. In April 2019, ASU and GAFB signed a similar MOU to allow successful graduates of the U.S. Air Force 14N Intelligence Course to transfer credit hours into various master’s degree programs offered by ASU’s Department of Security Studies and Criminal Justice.

That MOU codified ASU’s credit transfer relationship with GAFB’s 14N course graduates, which has existed since 2013. In 2017, ASU signed an agreement with the 17th Medical Group to allow students in ASU’s Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) programs to complete clinical practicums at the Goodfellow Clinic.

In 2018, ASU also signed an agreement with the National Security Agency (NSA) to allow its employees to transfer credits earned through the NSA National Cryptologic School into various programs in ASU’s Department of Security Studies and Criminal Justice.
