Summer Camp Coordinator
Supervise all camp staff and camp children. Be a leader in parent communication and address parent concerns in a timely manner. Assist with various administrative tasks necessary for camp to run effectively and efficiently. Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, and much more. Facilitate activities with children ages 4 through 12 in an engaging manner with positive leadership. Foster appropriate behavior among campers and handle inappropriate behavior promptly. Provide direct supervision to campers at all times. Respond to and take care of circumstances requiring first aid. Act as a role model for children ages 4 through 12, display appropriate behavior, and create safe, inclusive environment for all campers and staff. Perform general cleaning duties. Duties include but are not limited to: trash pick-up, mopping, sweeping, and bathroom disinfection. Follow all rules, policies, and procedures outlined in City of San Angelo policies and procedures handbook. Keeping up with and maintaining accurate camp records such as incident and accident reports, daily attendance, checking-in and checking-out. Enforce camp rules and safety regulations. Maintain positive public relations with the parents and the general public at all times. Perform all other various duties assigned by Recreation Supervisors and Recreation Manager. Performs other duties as assigned. Schedule could include up to 40 hours per week. Hours will vary, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, and occasional weekends.
CPR and First Aid certification required: must be able to obtain before camp start date. Daycare or childcare experience preferred. Strong verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of indoor and outdoor recreational games, activities, etc. Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma, some college/university coursework preferred. Outdoor environment; work in inclement weather. Work with children in both indoor and outdoor settings. Will be required to work in or with water and/or a pool environment. Continuous sitting, standing, walking for long periods of time. Noise level in work environment can be moderately loud. A valid driver license with a good driving record is preferred or reliable transportation is required.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, recreation facilities/programming are subject to open and close in accordance with State guidelines.
Hours will vary, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, and occasional weekends.
